Transreal Fiction

Scotland’s sf & fantasy bookstore

Brian Ruckley

Brian has kindly agreed to sign copies of his books for me.

The Free is his most recent novel and after his excursion into history, crime & horror with The Edinburgh Dead, his new book is a return to fantasy:

“They are the most feared mercenary company the kingdom has ever known. Led by Yulan, their charismatic captain, the Free have spent years selling their martial and magical skills to the highest bidder – winning countless victories that shook the foundations of the world. Now they finally plan to lay down their swords.

Yet when Yulan is offered a final contract, he cannot refuse – for the mission offers him the chance to erase the memories of the Free’s darkest hour, which have haunted him for years. As The Free embark on their last mission, a potent mix of loyalty and vengeance is building to a storm. Freedom, it seems, carries a deadly price.”

As usual, I can issue a PayPal Invoice for the amount, or I can accept payment by cheque or credit/debit card.

  1. Hello Mr. Calder,

I have to say the internet is a beautiful thing. I’ve been searching for a while now for a signed hardcover copy of Winterbirth and have found nothing but the 35 Pound WitchSpellBooks offering (WitchSpell typically prices their books at the top of the hyper-modern collectible market). It finally occurred to me to look for a website for Brian Ruckley and, lo, a link to your very fine looking website appeared with the possibility of signed copies of books from Charles Stross, and Ken Macleod, too; most wonderous!

I will ponder future purchases of the latter two authors’ books, but for the moment I would be very happy to get two (2) fine/fine, first/first copies of Winterbirth with Mr. Ruckley’s signature only, if possible. I will be happy to pay via Paypal invoice, but it’s been a while since I’ve received one of those, so please let me know if you need anything more than my e-mail address. If they’re available, the books can be shipped to:

    Thank you for your time,

    Jonathan

  2. I would be interested in a signed hardback of Winterbirth also. What would be the U.S. dollar amount? I haven’t used PayPal in years and I’m sorry if it automatically converts pounds and dollars.

    Thanks!

  6. ditto on the signed 1st/1st to the us (airmail, boat mail, souped up carrier pigeon, whatever). Are inscriptions possible?

  7. Brief inscriptions are no problem; once my carrier pigeon’s finished his soup, I’ll get him to carry an e-mail for you to the pneumatic delivery tube.

  8. Would I be able to get a signed hardback if I came to the shop next week (sometime before Thursday – I’m in Edinburgh for a conference) – I’d like to come to the shop anyway and am too mean to pay the postage!

  10. Hi – will signed copies of Bloodheir be procurable, once it comes out? Not too long now, I believe??

Comment by Roy Bayfield | March 14, 2008 | Reply

  11. Hi, Roy,
5th of June I believe… I will have signed hardbacks available – the price should be £14.99 +p&p
There will also be a simultaneous large format paperback for £11.99 I think, and the US softcover edition is due the same month for $14.99 although I doubt I’ll be stocking it unless anyone asks specifically.
I should be e-mailing people next month to ask if they want copies…

  13. James, I sent you an e-mail but it was bounced back as a bad address. I corrected what I think was the typo in it and resent and not had it bounced back but haven’t received any reply.

  14. Would like to have a signed w/ short inscription Bloodheir and a signed Winterbirth. I gather only soft copies of Winterbirth are available.

I have a Paypal account but have never used it. I’m in USA; does Paypal auto change currency?

  16. Greetings,
I would like to inquire about the purchase of signed copies of the entire trilogy. If at all possible 1st editions with just the signature of Mr. Ruckley would be wonderful. I have to say that I am pleased to have found this site. I am in the U.S, I don’t know if this matters much, but wanted to make you aware. If you could send me the figures I would appreciate it.

    Sincerely,
    Joshua
