Cuddly Critters!
Update – All gone!
No Longer A Wide Selection of Cuddly Animals!
Sadly, my suppliers abruptly pulled out of the soft toy market without notice and I currently have almost no stock.
If I find a wholesaler who can supply the plush animals I want (no one company makes a suitable range, or will sell them in the modest quantities I want) I may resume selling them – but there won’t be any of these old designs available, I’m afraid.

(This is still a picture taken at the old shop and not all are currently in stock; there are more pictures on my Flickr page… )

The baby tapir we bought last June has adapted well to its new habitat and says hello.
Excellent!
I’m completely sold out of tapirs right now, or I’d offer to sell you a companion!
Mike
That’s OK, the Giant Anteater keeps it company:

Wonderful!
Thanks for the link. 🙂
Mike
Sorry to disillusion the baby tapir but his companion looks more like an aardvark to me. They do eat ants too though.
Mister Roy: you should add the picture to the Tapirs Group on Flickr – they’d love it 🙂
Hi, RiotSquirrl; guess you’re right about the aardvark but, as you say, he does eat ants – so maybe he eats giant ants and is thus a giant ant eater… 😉
Good to see you anyway…
Thanks for this, heading on over to the Flickr group pronto!
The badger is settling in fine. Pic of tapir and your good self (slightly out of focus) is on my ‘what I did in my holidays’ blog: http://walkinghometo50.wordpress.com/2008/06/23/station-to-station-holiday-2/
…Roy (Mr)
Sounds like a good holiday!
One request; could you maybe change the link so it goes to this WordPress site rather than my aging static site at BTConnect…
Here’s the latest tapir, out and about

and featuring in a story

Late summer, 2009, I was visiting Edinburgh and wandered into Transreal with my best friend, seeking a book. (Ironically, by a writer local to me, whose books nonetheless come out in the UK before they do here in the US.)
My best friend browsed the stuffed animals while I snagged the book. Upon returning to the counter and seeing the selection, I joked “Wow… now, if you had an aardvark in all those stuffed animals, I’d have to buy that.”
An aardvark was promptly produced.
She traveled around the UK with me for a while longer, then returned home to Seattle. Her name is Ethel (it seemed fitting), and she has settled in well here.
I think next time I’ll have to snag a tapir. 🙂
I remember that, Rachel; glad your aardvark has adapted to the grey skies of Seattle, instead of the grey skies of Edinburgh!
Looks like Tapirs are going to be the new Meerkats!
Ha! They’d need bigger burrows! 🙂
Actually, I’ve seen a distinct increase in people’s awareness of what they are over the past several years, although I doubt they’ll ever be considered as cute as those 4-toed mongooses!
