Brian Ruckley
Brian has kindly agreed to sign copies of his books for me.
The Edinburgh Dead is due out in the UK in early August as a ‘B’ format paperback for £7.99
The US edition should arrive on the 9th August and is a slightly larger size, but still a softcover. Price is £10.99. It appears that there will only be paperback editions, with no hardcovers available.
The book itself is a bit of a change from The Godless World set!
“Edinburgh 1827: It’s a city populated by mad alchemists who treat Frankenstein as textbook rather than novel and by a criminal underclass prepared to treat with the darkest of powers. And one officer, from the recently formed Edinburgh City Police, must follow the trail of undead hounds, emptied graves, brutal murders and mob violence into the deepest and darkest corners of Edinburgh’s underworld – both literal and magical – and back again to the highest reaches of elegant, intellectual Edinburgh society.”
And here’s a more recent 2nd description, nicked off his own web site:
“He is currently writing The Edinburgh Dead, a dark heroic fantasy set in 19th century Edinburgh and featuring veteran warriors, magical conspiracies, killers both human and decidedly not, desperate combat and sinister goings-on in general. “
I intend to e-mail people who have expressed an interest (or bought Brian’s previous books from me) with further details in due course. E-mail me if you want to be included.
As usual, I can issue a PayPal Invoice for the amount, or I can accept payment by cheque or credit/debit card.

Hello Mr. Calder,
I have to say the internet is a beautiful thing. I’ve been searching for a while now for a signed hardcover copy of Winterbirth and have found nothing but the 35 Pound WitchSpellBooks offering (WitchSpell typically prices their books at the top of the hyper-modern collectible market). It finally occurred to me to look for a website for Brian Ruckley and, lo, a link to your very fine looking website appeared with the possibility of signed copies of books from Charles Stross, and Ken Macleod, too; most wonderous!
I will ponder future purchases of the latter two authors’ books, but for the moment I would be very happy to get two (2) fine/fine, first/first copies of Winterbirth with Mr. Ruckley’s signature only, if possible. I will be happy to pay via Paypal invoice, but it’s been a while since I’ve received one of those, so please let me know if you need anything more than my e-mail address. If they’re available, the books can be shipped to:
Thank you for your time,
Jonathan

I would be interested in a signed hardback of Winterbirth also. What would be the U.S. dollar amount? I haven’t used PayPal in years and I’m sorry if it automatically converts pounds and dollars.
Thanks!
Todd
I’ve sent you an e-mail with full details…
Mike
Hello, i too am interested in finding out how much a signed 1st/1st of the hardcover of Winterbirth would be sent to the US airmail…
thanks!
Chris
e-mail on it’s way, Chris…
ditto on the signed 1st/1st to the us (airmail, boat mail, souped up carrier pigeon, whatever). Are inscriptions possible?
Brief inscriptions are no problem; once my carrier pigeon’s finished his soup, I’ll get him to carry an e-mail for you to the pneumatic delivery tube.
Mike.
Would I be able to get a signed hardback if I came to the shop next week (sometime before Thursday – I’m in Edinburgh for a conference) – I’d like to come to the shop anyway and am too mean to pay the postage!
I’ve e-mailed Brian about this… and sent you a message as well…
Mike
Hi – will signed copies of Bloodheir be procurable, once it comes out? Not too long now, I believe??
Hi, Roy,
5th of June I believe… I will have signed hardbacks available – the price should be £14.99 +p&p
There will also be a simultaneous large format paperback for £11.99 I think, and the US softcover edition is due the same month for $14.99 although I doubt I’ll be stocking it unless anyone asks specifically.
I should be e-mailing people next month to ask if they want copies…
Mike
.
Hi can i order a signed and lined copy please first time here so bit of a newbe yours JAMES
James, I sent you an e-mail but it was bounced back as a bad address. I corrected what I think was the typo in it and resent and not had it bounced back but haven’t received any reply.
If you haven’t received my e-mail, please contact me again.

Would like to have a signed w/ short inscription Bloodheir and a signed Winterbirth. I gather only soft copies of Winterbirth are available.
I have a Paypal account but have never used it. I’m in USA; does Paypal auto change currency?
What now?
Jake
E-mail sent at the time, if anyone’s thinking this is just hanging unanswered!
Greetings,
I would like to inquire about the purchase of signed copies of the entire trilogy. If at all possible 1st editions with just the signature of Mr. Ruckley would be wonderful. I have to say that I am pleased to have found this site. I am in the U.S, I don’t know if this matters much, but wanted to make you aware. If you could send me the figures I would appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Joshua
