Signed Books

Charlie Stross, Ken Macleod and Brian Ruckley have all agreed to sign books for me on request.

I can usually arrange for current hardbacks or paperbacks to be signed, dated, dedicated, etc. The process usually only takes a few days – it depends on how busy they are at the time.

Details of current titles are on each author’s page here.

The process:

Contact me with what you’d like and where you’d like the book, or books, mailed and I’ll advise you of the exact price and confirm the details. Books are sent via the Royal Mail and, as a rough guide, a hardback sent within the UK is approx £2.70, to Europe £6.29 and elsewhere either £6.42 surface (slow!) or £12.26 airmail… (Based on the wrapped package weighing >1kg). Airsure (Tracked airmail) adds a further £4.50 to the airmail charge.

Paying:

PayPal: tell me and I’ll send a PayPal Invoice (which asks for things like address as well)
Cards: phone with the details or e-mail the details (inc. address, expiry date, and 3 digit security code as well. Also the issue number if aplicable). For security, maybe split the details over a couple of messages…
Cheques: in Sterling only, payable to Transreal Fiction

edited April 2009 for new postal rates…

  1. Hi – used to pop into the shop all the time when I worked in the Grassmarket – miss getting my Dan Simmons US imports!

Popped in again recently on a work treasure hunt so very annoyed that I couldn’t buy Robert McCammon’s newest!

    Cheers

  2. Hi. I’d be more than willing to sign books for your customers as well, though coming as they are from the states there would be a considerable delay. My wife regularly mails books all over the world for her review site, so it wouldn’t be that much of a hassle for me to do the same for your shop from time to time.

I’m just honored that you offer copies of my “Tales from the Magitech Lounge” (one of my favorite novels so far) in your store, and hope someday to travel to Scotland to visit in person.

    • Hi Saje; thanks for your offer! I’m afraid I think the shipping costs are prohibitive (esp. now the £ is down below $1.50) for long-distance signing to work.
The authors who have agreed to sign books for me all live fairly locally and find it quite easy to call by personally any time I ask them…
Sorry to have to say no to your offer, but I will be stocking you new book come February!

      All the best,

      Mike
